ERKF approves grant of Rs 58.7m for 81 KP, FATA SMEs
Peshawar—The Grant Review and Monitoring Committee (GRMC) of the Multi-Donor Trust Fund (MDTF) funded project for Economic Revitalization of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and FATA (ERKF) has approved a total of 81 cases for issuance of grant for the rehabilitation of the crisis-hit SMEs.
Talking to media, Provincial Chief, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (Smeda), Javed Iqbal Khattak said that they had so far received 1365 application grant applications and their processing has been in progress.
The US $ 20 million Multi-Donor Trust Fund (MDTF) funded project for the Economic Revitalization of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and FATA (ERKF) was initiated under the auspices of the World Bank and its objective was to off-set the adverse effects of the crisis caused by militancy and flood in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Under the scheme, he said 57 grant applicants from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have been disposed of with approval of an amount of Rs.32.5 million for them while a grant of Rs.26.2 million have been approved for the militancy and flood affected SMEs of FATA.
Grant distribution amongst the affected SMEs in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was formally launched by Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the month of May 2012 while Governor Khyber, Barrister Masood Kausar is also likely to inaugurate cheques distribution amongst the SMEs of FATA shortly.
