When you look at the software as a service (SaaS) market as a whole, there are the SaaS startups, and then there are the major vendors who command a significant share of the enterprise SaaS market. According to new data from Synergy Research Group, those leading SaaS providers are growing quickly: 32 percent year on year in Q4 2016 to reach almost $13 billion in quarterly revenues.
As previously reported on Talkin’ Cloud, SaaS will remain the dominant cloud computing type, accounting for 60 percent of cloud spending in 2020. That means that leading vendors in SaaS will have a good share of the cloud budgets for the next few years at least.
Synergy says that among the major SaaS vendors Oracle and Google had the highest growth rates in Q4 2016, but that for the third successive quarter Microsoft is the “clear leader in overall enterprise SaaS, having overtaken long-time market leader Salesforce.”
Here’s a look at the top 13 enterprise SaaS market leaders in the fourth quarter of 2016, according to Synergy.
