Albany Area Chamber of Commerce prepares for Small Business Week

ALBANY — The Albany Area Chamber of Commerce is getting ready for its annual Small Business of the Year awards ceremony, which will be part of a weeklong celebration designed to showcase the varied businesses crucial for a robust local economy.

Each year the award ceremony is the highlight of the event during which the chamber recognizes the area’s outstanding small businesses.

“The Albany Area Chamber of Commerce, every year, honors small businesses by celebrating their accomplishments and their commitment to the community,” Chamber President Barbara Rivera Holmes said. “We host a variety of events for Small Business Week, which this year will be May 1 through May 5.”

According to Holmes, recognizing and presenting local businesses with awards serves to not only show those businesses that they are a valued and vital part of our community’s economy, but also to promote those businesses and their further success.

“Small Business Week is an opportunity for the Albany Area Chamber of Commerce to show our appreciation to those business which are the backbone of our community,” said Holmes. “They deserve our recognition, and they should be proud.”
